Glimpses of Manali Marathon 2023

Welcome to Manali Marathon 2.0

The Manali Marathon is the brainchild of the Himalayan Xtreme Sports Association, inspired by a dream envisioned by the team in 2022 to host an extraordinary marathon in the picturesque town of Manali, the adventure sports capital of India. Despite facing the worst floods in 50 years in 2023, which dealt a severe blow to Manali's adventure tourism industry, Team Himalayan Xtreme took this as an opportunity to demonstrate the town's resilience.

With the unwavering support of Manali's MLA, Sh. Bhuvneshwar Gaur, the Kullu Administration, the Tourism Department, Kullu Police, local tourism stakeholders, the community, and the wholehearted backing of SDM Manali, the team meticulously planned the first Manali Marathon. Their goal was to show the world that Manali was back on its feet, safe, and ready to welcome tourists once again.

The inaugural event saw 560 participants across five races: the 5km Run for Manali, the 13km Manali Majestic Run, the Half Marathon, the Full Marathon, and the challenging 100km Rohtang Pass Ultra. Runners aged 4 to 86, including 96 tourists, professional runners from across India, and 35 international athletes from three countries, came together to celebrate this grand event. The sight of enthusiastic participants and supportive spectators brought smiles to everyone's faces, highlighting the incredible teamwork behind the scenes.

As we look forward to the 2024 edition, we promise an even bigger and more exciting event. Runners will experience breathtaking landscapes, from apple orchards and pine forests to glacial streams and majestic mountains. The toughest runners can challenge themselves with the Rohtang Pass Ultra, featuring elevation climbs and descents of 2000m, ascending to the grand Rohtang Pass at 3870m.
